Sloomoo Institute Launches Major Slime Attraction in Boston
This fall, downtown Boston will welcome the Sloomoo Institute, a 17,000-square-foot interactive slime experience opening on Clinton Street on November 14. Founded originally in New York City in 2019, Sloomoo Institute has expanded to nine locations across the United States and promotes itself as the world's top slime experience, offering a blend of playful activities and STEM learning.
Expansion Follows Successful Boston MiniMoo Shop
The grand opening comes a year after Sloomoo debuted a 4,000-square-foot “Sloomoo MiniMoo” retail shop and slime design bar at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. According to the company, the previous attraction drew over 65,000 visitors, demonstrating strong local enthusiasm for hands-on, sensory play activities.
Immersive Interactive Slime Activities
Visitors to the new Sloomoo Institute location can take part in a variety of interactive slime activities. Guests will be able to launch slime with a giant slingshot, cover the signature slime wall, and plunge their arms into vats of colorful slime. Additional features include a walk-on lake of slime, a dramatic slime waterfall (with ponchos provided), a do-it-yourself slime bar, and an interactive DJ booth that produces music through the tactile experience of touching slime. The Institute will also offer slime classes and other educational programming.
Practical Tips and Accessibility
The company recommends that visitors prepare by wearing pants and shirts with sleeves that can easily roll up, secure long hair, and avoid wearing their favorite shoes. According to Sloomoo’s website, slime is easily removed using white vinegar and water. Sloomoo Institute also highlights its commitment to inclusion, with co-founder and co-CEO Sara Schiller stating that the team pursues inclusive hiring practices and that the space is designed to accommodate people of all abilities and ages.
Grand Opening Details and Community Impact
The grand opening event on November 14 will feature a ceremonial “slime cutting,” appearances by the Sloomoo mascot, performances, and surprise treats for guests. Sloomoo Institute reports that its new Boston location will bring 100 new jobs to the area. Regular hours for the attraction will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance to the ticketed experience starts at $35.99.
Bringing Play and STEM to Boston Families
Sloomoo Institute’s leadership is enthusiastic about the expansion. Co-founder and co-CEO Karen Robinovitz emphasized, “Boston, you asked for more slime, and we listened! We cannot get enough of the energy we’ve felt from families here — the joy, the community, the sheer enthusiasm for PLAY.” The company looks forward to providing Boston families with opportunities for joy and creative play through their expansive new slime attraction.
