In a trial that lasted more than seven weeks and included witness testimony and a counterclaim by singer Cassie Ventura against Combs, who was accused of abuse and trafficking in their former relationship, the former President was charged. Combs has consistently stated that he is not guilty of any of the allegations.

Trump appeared to give an ambiguous answer when Finnerty posed the question about whether or not to pardon Combs. Trump stated, “Well, he was sort of half-innocent, you know, but he was certainly celebrating a victory.” “But I guess it wasn’t as good a victory.”

Combs remains incarcerated as he awaits sentencing, which is set for October. 3. Combs will serve up to 20 years for transportation with the intent to engage in prostitution, the charge on which he was convicted last month.

Trump later stated that he used to be very good friends with Combs, but something happened. “We were friendly,” Trump said. “We got along well.”
